Quiz Evening 6 April 2018

This enjoyable event was attended by 66 people who tried to answer the questions prepared mainly by Stan Cherry but including some with a French flavour invented by members of the Committee. Our Question Master, Keith Masdin, kept things moving and at half time we enjoyed a supper of salad and lasagne (Artannes is also twinned with Roccastrada in Italy!).

AGM Sunday 22 April 2018

A very good turn out for the AGM where our Chairman, Maureen Breeze described the events of the past year and those planned for 2018. Treasurer, Kevin Marris went through the accounts which showed the financial affairs of the association to be healthy and the new committee was voted in. The official business over we enjoyed tasting three wines accompanied by appropriate cheeses.

Safari Supper Saturday 30 June 2018

This event was enjoyed by 63 people who visited 10 venues for each course.  It was a beautiful summer evening and some were able to enjoy their meal outside.  We all met up in Church for coffee and chocolates to round off a very successful evening.

    Visit to Artannes 9 – 12 November 2018

Fifteen members of the Twinning Association travelled to Artannes-sur-Indre where we shared the Armistice centenary commemoration with our French friends. We mounted a small exhibition of memorabilia from the period which was added to Artannes’s own display. We then attended their moving commemoration ceremony in front of the war memorial where Maureen Breeze laid a poppy wreath on behalf of Bathford Parish Council and our communities alongside floral tributes from organisations in Artannes and Pont Ruan.

Our final contribution was a short but moving theatrical piece using letters and songs from the 1914-18 period. This had been conceived, written and directed by Nicky Krikorian and Ian Matthews with songs added and played by Nick Breeze.

Since we returned we have performed the play at the primary school in Bathford which linked in with their work on the Great War.
