BATHFORD TWINNING ASSOCIATION (WITH KINGSDOWN)
NEWSLETTER FOR MEMBERS - No. 22 FEBRUARY 2009
BIG EVENTS COMING IN 2009 - BOOK NOW: Taking place between 25-27 April 2009, we will be working together in one large ensemble as well as in smaller groups and will be performing in front of an audience at the end of the weekend. Whether you play an instrument or enjoy singing, you will have fun working with and getting to know the French musicians. As a guide, if you play an instrument you will be able to participate fully if your playing is around grade 4 or above. However, enthusiasm is more important than skill and we do encourage you to join in! As the music will be specially arranged for the participating voices and instruments, it is important that you register your interest no later than 20 February by calling Nick or Maureen Breeze on 852444 or by emailing Nick at musicweekend@nickbreeze.co.uk. We will also need hosts for the French musicians over the weekend and whether you are involved in the music or not, perhaps you would consider offering accommodation? Volunteers to host the musicians should contact John Lees on 859508 or Julia Masdin on 858042. Arrangements for the music weekend are well in hand. A party of about 15 is expected from Lyre Artannaise, arriving on the evening of Thursday 23 April and departing on Tuesday 28 April. If you are a musician or singer, it is not too late to take part. The main musical activities will take place on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 April, so do get in touch if you are interested. There will be two public events during the weekend - details are given below.
Music Weekend - Social Events
Saturday 25 April Lyre Artannaise will give a short performance during the evening. Tickets and details will be available in due course from Julia Masdin (858042) but put the date in your diary. Concert
Sunday 26 April This will be the culmination of all the activities of the weekend bringing them together in a public performance.
Europe Day in Artannes They are keen for Bathford to send a party and it is hoped that we will visit from 7 - 11 May to include this activity. We already have about 20 people signed up so why not join us? A highlight of the event will be a special appearance of the Bathford Handbell Ringers who have accepted an invitation to play the European Anthem at the opening ceremony. Anyone wishing to join the party should get in touch with Peter Rideal on 858322.
