BATHFORD TWINNING ASSOCIATION (WITH KINGSDOWN)
NEWSLETTER FOR MEMBERS - No. 21
OCTOBER 2008

Annual General Meeting
The AGM will take place on Monday 10 November 2008 at 8.00pm at the Kingsdown Golf Club. We are ever conscious of the support and participation in events which we get from the residents of Kingsdown. It seemed appropriate therefore to hold an Annual General Meeting on their home ground this year.

This is a comfortable and pleasant venue (even better by day when you can enjoy the view!) and there is ample parking available. The bar will be available to us from 7.30pm and again after the meeting. At the meeting, the audited accounts of the Association will be presented for approval and we will be reviewing past and future activities.

Officers and Committee Members will be elected - new blood is always welcome!

Any nominations can be submitted in advance to the Secretary, Peter Rideal but nominations will also be taken on the night.

I do hope we will see you there!

Anyone wanting a lift up to Kingsdown should contact Peter Rideal on 858322 or me (859132).

Twinning Committee
For your interest, the current membership is as follows:

Maureen Breeze, Chair
John Lees, Vice Chairman
Peter Rideal, Secretary
Colin Priston, Asst. Secretary & Archivist
Chris Eker, Treasurer
Committee:
Tony Evans, David Llewelyn, Sian & Freddie Connelly, Jeanette Kremer, Julia Masdin, Anne Woodcock.

So far as I know, all are willing to stand again.

Grand Twinning Pot Luck Supper
As previously announced, we will be entertaining a group of 9 people from Artannes who are interested in capturing the atmosphere of an English Christmas and the traditional cookery involved in its celebration. The cookery workshop - "The Taste of an English Christmas" - will take place from 4 - 8 December, though several members of the group will not be departing until 9 December due to return transport problems. Arrangements for their accommodation are in hand but we may be seeking help from interested members for certain parts of the programme.

The chance for everyone to meet our French guests - and nearly all of them will be old friends - will come on Sunday 7 December at a Pot Luck Supper in the Parish Hall from 7.00pm.

We are hoping that Nick breeze will come along to entertain us with Christmas songs and carols.

Everyone is welcome and admission is FREE!! However, we are asking everyone who comes to bring a contribution to the buffet supper. Wine and soft drinks will be available.

This part of the programme is being organised by Julia Masdin and a team of helpers.

To obtain your free ticket please contact Julia on 858042 and, at the same time, let her know what food contribution you will be able to bring. That way we will be able to ensure there is a good balance of food.

If you want more information about the cookery workshop, please contact one of the organisers: Maureen Breeze 852444, Jenny Matthews 742133 or Tony Woodcock 859132.

Twinning Aprons
This new line - following on the successful sell out of our tea towels - should be available for viewing and purchase at the AGM. We have seen the samples and they look very smart and will make useful Christmas presents!

Hand Bell Ringers
The hand bell ringing team are working towards attending the Twinning Event in Artannes next spring.

Ownership of the bells is in the hands of the church but the Vicar and PCC have signified their approval.

If you are interested in attending next year, put the dates 7 - 11 May 2009 in your diaries.
