BATHFORD TWINNING ASSOCIATION (WITH KINGSDOWN)
NEWS FOR THE BATHFORD BULLETIN AUGUST 2008
Youth Visit After a welcome meeting at Bathford Primary School on arrival, the group thereafter took part in a varied programme, both educational and entertaining. In spite of exceptionally bad weather, they managed to include the SS Great Britain, Chepstow Castle, the Forest of Dean Sculpture Trail, Historic Bath and a specially granted visit to Highgrove. On the Tuesday afternoon, the group was received at the Primary School by the head teacher, Diane Grebby, along with Karen Sykes and other staff. A variety of activities had been arranged which enabled the French children to meet their English counterparts in the top class of the school. Leisure time ranged from sporting activities to singing, drama and craftwork. On the last evening of the visit, following a pasta supper in the Parish Hall, the results of these activities were exhibited including a musical mime play of Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs with English-French narration. The Twinning Association is enormously grateful to Helen Lees who masterminded all the arrangements. It is also most appreciative of the kindness and generosity of those families who provided accommodation for the visitors. Helen was supported in the execution of this visit by a large band of people throughout the village and in Kingsdown and to whom we express our sincere thanks.
